Ana Ivanovic dispelled fears that she is unfit to compete in Dubai this week with an impressive straight sets victory over Nicole Vaidisova.
Ivanovic's participation here had been in doubt until as late as this morning when her camp expressed confidence she was capable of coming through her match with Vaidisova.
The third seeded Serbian underlined that confidence by sending her Czech opponent packing with a 6-4, 6-0 victory.
Ivanovic is appearing in the main draw in Dubai for the first time. She will face Elena Dementieva in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Dementieva has won both her previous matches against Ivanovic. But the pair haven't faced off against each other in more than a year. And Ivanovic will be the favorite to prevail on Thursday.
The eighth seed from Moscow needed less than an hour to crush Alona Bondarenko of the Ukraine 6-2, 6-1.
