Nicole Vaidisova failed in her bid to reach the quarterfinals of the $1,500,000 Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships for the first time on Wednesday.
The Czech star was beaten in straight sets by Ana Ivanovic in the night match on center court.
Ivanovic dispelled fears that she is unfit to compete in Dubai this week with an impressive straight sets victory over Nicole Vaidisova.
Ivanovic's participation here had been in doubt until as late as this morning when her camp expressed confidence she was capable of coming through her match with Vaidisova.
The third seeded Serbian underlined that confidence by sending Vaidisova home with a 6-4, 6-0 victory.
